Jonas Abrahamsen has won the Brussels Cycling Classic. The Norwegian accelerated on Heiligekruiswegstraat and was joined by Martin Svrcek, who had already been part of the early breakaway. Abrahamsen started a solo attack four kilometers from the finish and completed it successfully. It was the first professional victory for the rider from Uno-X Mobility.

Australian ace sprinter Robbie McEwen won Paris-Brussels, the then Brussels Cycling Classic, no less than five times. McEwen took part in the race for the first time in 1997. On his second appearance, in 2002, he won the race. The Lotto – Adecco rider defeated Olaf Pollack in a bunch sprint. The next four times he raced the Brussels Cycling Classic were the years from 2005 to 2008. McEwen managed to win all four of those editions. He defeated Stefan van Dijk, Tom Boonen, Jeremy Hunt and Gert Steegmans respectively.
