On Saturday, 7 September 2013, 14 WorldTour, 9 Professional Continental and 2 Continental teams will take part in the 93rd edition of the “Brussels Cycling Classic” race, formerly the Paris-Brussels race.
A very strong field of riders will appear at the start in the Jubelpark/Cinquantenaire in Brussels. Gert Steegmans, Niki Terpstra, Matteo Trentin and Iljo Keisse form the Omega Pharma – Quick-Step lead out train that hopes to guide Alessandro Petacchi to victory. The Lotto Belisol team is headed by the Jürgen Roelandts – André Greipel duo. And Argos-Shimano is coming to Brussels with Tour revelation Tom Dumoulin and leader John Degenkolb.
Moreno Moser (Cannondale), Matti Breschel (Team Saxo), Björn Leukemans (Vacansoleil -DCM), Rui Costa (Movistar) and the Belkin duo Lars Boom and Sep Vanmarcke will have to dig deep and produce something special to avoid a sprint.
Francisco Ventoso, who won the Paris-Brussels in 2010, Borut Božič (Astana), Kris Boeckmans (Vacansoleil -DCM), Roberto Ferrari (Lampre-Merida), Yauheni Hutarovich (Ag2r), Arnaud Démare (FDJ), Alexander Kristoff (Katusha), Daniele Bennati (Team Saxo) and Milan-San Remo winner Gerald Ciolek complete the list of favourites.
